As a private music instructor and public school teacher of 47 yrs, clinician, adjudicator, composer/arranger, performer and conductor Dale Spurlock (1932-2005) left a catalogue of over fifty string quartets and orchestral arrangements as well as a number of original works performed by school and community orchestras including “Peace For Children” premiered at the 1985 Peace Exhibit and his Suite for Orchestra commissioned for the 1976 Bicentennial. A jazz bassist since the age of 14 his signature big band style voicings for strings makes his arrangements of jazz standards a must have in any school library. His simple and accessible melodies make his original works in demand too.
